Manuscript, Marriage and Mexico

I’m about to go AWOL for a while (like it’d be the first time, right?) so I thought I’d write a quick update before I do so.

First, the book: my friends are going all Stewie on me but it’s ok – the end is in sight. I have to re-edit and submit the manuscript by May 2009 so there is a deadline.

Next, the wedding is nigh. Soon I will be Mrs… well, Abdullah. I’m not changing my name, much to the chagrin of the fiancé and though Kia Khan does sort of work, I prefer to keep my father’s name.

I’m brushing up on my Spanish as I’m off to Mexico next Tuesday. It means I’ll be passing through New York and LA during the pre-election hysteria and post-election fallout so that will be interesting… maybe.

I’ve just figured out what the song Handlebars is about. I really liked it when I first heard it and got the sense that it was saying something important but couldn’t quite figure it out from the strange lyrics. The video puts it into context – it’s worth a watch (I’ve even forgiven them for the misuse of “Me and my friends”).

Erm, I *think* that’s it. I shall be back soon…ish.

Kia

M&Ms… mmmm.

Good luck with the book (got a nice plot twist yet? Something to make the read think? A revelation from the blue? Add some depth?) and the wedding..... I look forward to reading something by you when you get back.

Just so you know: I've yet to recieve my invite. I don't really need one per se, but just thought I'd let you know if you wanted to send me one before you leave.

Oooh and congrats :)

Thanks (Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.) *If* I come back - after all, Zihuatanejo *is* the kind of place you settle in.

Thanks. And sorry - I'm afraid it's a teeny weeny thing with family and a handful of close friends... even Josh isn't coming and I've known him for a couple of decades.

Alan Rickman scares me. I mean really scares me.

Thanks. The immigration problem I was worried about turned into a nightmare. They detained the husband (still can't used to calling him that!) and made us miss our flight out to Mexico. We had to stay an unplanned night in New York. Same thing happened on the way back but luckily Virgin Airlines were more accomodating than American Airlines so he just about made the flight (mad dash et al). It hasn't done much to improve my opinion of the US authorities, it has to be said.. It's all good though, Mexico was amazing :) .

I should take you along to my meetings with the publishers. Far be it from me to use a cliche but you can sell snow to the eskimos...

"They detained the husband"
That part sounds cute. The husband part.

Him getting detained, at least now you have a cute story to tell :P. (Trying to find the silver lining for you).

Where did you go in Mexico? Cancun is really beautiful.
